Bought a Knight in-line with a Simmons 1X1.5, shotgun scope attached.

Any experience with Simmons scopes on either BP or center fire rifles? Am heading for OK in a week or so for whitetail and am considering changing for a Zeiss 3X9 I have on the shelf.

I use an Aetec on a 7MM Ultra-Mag, and a 2X pistol scope on my .308 Encore pistol. So far, no problems with either. However, considering the quality of the Zeiss you already have, this is a no brainer. Why drive a Ford when you own a Rolls?
Just my opinion.
Good Luck

thx, Jay. danger i face is over-thinking a problem, or creating one where it doesn't exist. for example, the apparent scope dilema...since the gun wearing the Simmons shot OK, and leaving in a few days for whitetail seemed to tell me to stay with what's workin'.

however, yesterday replaced the Simmons with the Zeiss and my conjured-up worries are behind me.

in a few days its off to SD for pheasant and then to OK for whitetail. so far i haven't conjured up any ghosts or goblins to deal with between now and then.

Simmons is OK for the average front loader, but I wouldn't have one on a real gun.

Ya know, I was very disappointed that I could no longer use my "real" 25-06 for deer
season upon moving to Iowa. And it seemed rather disgusting for a rifleman to use
shotgun slugs, so I began using the front stuffers. Minnies were adequate, but left
some to be desired as far as quick kills. But after using saboted pistol bullets at first,
and now 200gr spire point lead bullets, the last half dozen deer just didn't seem to
know the difference between my front stuffers and my ol' "real" deer rifle.

DBoone, I was refering to the recoil. The Simmons I have on my ML was a replacement for one that died after 4 rounds on my Mossberg 835 Ultra mag using 3 1/2 mag loads. I now have a Leopold on the shot gun and all is well.

gamecock,

Is that a 1x32 Simmons? I am looking for a 1x scope for my muzzleloader. If you are interested in selling it, send me an email at liveoak@mail.com

Thanks.

Mark
