A plumber maybe..?

Do you really mean "rifle" or smoothbore? You're talking about 1/2 lb. lead balls here. Interesting project though.

Ha Ha, I mean a 2 bore with a rifled barrel, with a twist and a 32" barrel to shoot a 3500 grain lead ball. Total weight of appx 23 lbs.

Is the rifle to be a re-creation of something that existed in the past? An old English elephant gun or something?
The only possible source for a rifeled 2 bore barrel I can think of is Ernie Stallman of Badger barrels. His barrels are "cut" rifeled and it would be more cost effective to broach-cut a single barrel than make a button or forgeing mandrel. I can't even imagine the cost of such a barrel but I'll bet he could do it.
Then, if there is a historical basis (existing example or pictures) for the rifle a stock, lock, and other fittings could be completed by a number of custom builders. Quite a project. Good luck!

There are some 2-bore rifles in existence: I handled one at the Safari Club Show a couple of years ago, on the used gun rack. A beautiful piece, but it weighed almost 35 pounds. It was a muzzle-loader, and made by one of the "name" English companies, but I don't remember which one. It was surprisingly inexpensive: something around $8K. I could have afforded the gun but the divorce would have ruined me, so I passed it up.

You might want to contact some of the dealers in the UK, if anyone can locate a 2-bore rifle for you, one of them will. Or Classic Arms in Witbank, South Africa. Andrew Soutar has connections all over the world and can probably find one for you; but it isn't going to be cheap.

Some years ago at a BP shooting festival, I saw something along the lines of what you asking about. This guy had bought a 20MM barrel, turned it down, etc and made a rifle from it - his was a caplock but I think a flinter would be doable. Only thing I wonder about is the twist rate to be found in the 20mm barrel as compared to a regular BP barrel. Maybe instead of turning it down you could ream it out and then cut new rifling?
I have sen such barrels for sale at various times and for not a great deal of money?
Keep us posted on the progress of the project, OK?

Lord, give me patience 'cuz if you give me strength I'll need bail money!!

TrapperP, I got in contact with the guy that was originally going to make my 2 bore gun today. He has the stock and the barrel done but the hold up has been the under stock fireing mechanism and the trigger. He informed me today that he has found someone to help him heat treat these pieces the way he wants them, so my project is not dead yet. He think in 4 or 5 months the gun will be complete! I will keep you posted on the progress.

The hammer is on the underside of the stock by the trigger. Not on top of the stock like most guns.

October Country used to provide some big-bore ML's, both single and DB. At least as big as 4-bores. But I just looked at their web site, and it isn't even a shadow of it's former self........

I think these Zephyrs are the underhammer big-bore jobs.

Gee, looks like 8 - Ga. is their big bore..... The African. It only uses measley 1/8-pound balls, and may not give you a concussion and nose-bleed when you light it off. But it might!!

Are you a BIG guy, like "Pasha" Baker??

a recent issue of Muzzle Blasts had Mike Nesbitt's critique of Oregon Gunworks barrels, up to two bore. Rifled or smooth bore.
