I'm posting this for my father who is having a problem with his TC Renegade in 50 cal. He's had it for probably 20 years and it's been the most accurate muzzleloader we've fired (except for my Lyman). Lately, When he shoots either the big TC maxi balls or even patched balls, they will group 2 touching here, then 2 touching there, then 1 with the 1st group, then 1 with the 2nd group, etc. The 2 groups are about 3 to 4" apart at 50 yds. The barrel key is still tight, the barrel is in perfect shape, clean as a whistle (no rust). My suggestion is his 4 year old CCI Mag #11 caps. The gun fires with 100% reliability.. What's up?

I would check either the Tang where it hooks into the wood or the rear sight to see if it might be a tiny bit loose. derf

Just a quick question. Have you walked down range and picked up any of the patches and checked them?
