There is a guns store in the Gardiner, ME area (Hawk n Horn?) that used to sell this line of rifles. I remember looking at them 8-10 years ago. My opinion (and I never shot one, just looked at them) is that they are good medium quality outfits. I asked the shop owner if they were Siler or L&R Locks, and he said "No, it's their own." I don't know how hard the frizzen is (to generate good white hot sparks) or the accuracy of the barrel. Nice browned furniture. Ther weren't cheap, they weren't expensive.

If you want to upgrade a bit, look at the semi-custom flinters by Cabin Creek Muzzleloading (in PA). They offer a "Yorktowne Rifle" which is a very good outfit. First quality parts (Siler lock, green mtn barrel, davis trigger), medium to xxxfancy maple, and a couple of upgrades to add if you like (iron/brass, etc). I got one about 10 years ago. I think they were in the $600 range then. The owner's name back then was Brad Emig. You get what you pay for. In my opinion, it is the best "good flinter" outfit without going for the $2000 custom gun. Solid, reliable and accurate. It's a true value. Cabin Creek M/L used to advertise a lot in the NMLRA publication, Muzzleblasts.
