Didn't see any mention of this powder here and wondered if anyone was using it?

I'm not but have a couple of good friends that shoot it.

One is in love with it but he's all about killin the deer regardless. I'll leave it at that.

The other friend shot a lot of it this summer thru his White, playin with a chrono and loads. I'm not really sure if he likes it that much. I think he likes having first hand knowledge of the various powders and loads.

Both say the it's clean and a gun can be loaded and fired accurately many times without attention to the barrel.

that said, I'm shootin 777 at present in my Knights but I'm seriously thinking about gettin a flintlock and shootin goex. Personally, the BH powder is too expensive for no real gain.

I have used about 6 cans of blackhorn. It is fast and clean but you better clean your gun the day you shoot it. Do not leave blackhorn residue in the barrel. They used to claim it was non-corrosive and no need to clean immediately. That claim has been changed.

PM me and I'll give you more details of my experiences with blackhorn 209.

I've switched to using Blackhorn 209 exclusively. Tested through chronograph and compares with 777 for velocity, but uses less powder. I've reloaded and fired 20+ times with ease. No crud ring! Cleans easy, easy, easy and with regular bore solvents. Breech plug removes quite easily each time, but I do clean after each firing session. Tested leaving an unfired round in the gun for over a week during various conditions on a hunt to Iowa. When fired, no problem and on the money! It can use any 209 primer, but not the ones manufactured for muzzle-loaders, not hot enough. It is suggested to use the hottest 209 primer and I use the CCI 209M. So far, no mis-fires using this primer. As with any other loads. Experiment with different bullet, sabot, and powder charge combinations to find the sweet spot. Hey, it's made muzzle loaders more fun for me. Downside, price and availibility.

Big B209 fan here too. You just have to be sure your gun is compatible with it. I shoot it in my Knight with a CCIM primer.

BH209 user here too. Works great with my NEF Huntsman, but only after getting rid of the original primer carrier and getting a Metrix Unlimited plug. I use what some refer to as the hottest shotgun primer available: Federal 209A coupled with 80 gr. BH209, Hornady 240 gr. XTP sabot. Very accurate, cleans up in a snap with Hoppes #9 and NO misfires. NOTE: Make sure you clean the plug very well paying extra attention to the flash hole. LP gas orifice cleaner works about the best.

One downfall...powder is relatively expensive.

Safe and successful shooting.
