I am just getting into muzzleloading and was wondering if any one had any experience with the .50 TC scout rifle. I have the opertunity to get one of these real cheap and I can't seem to find any info on it. I am interested especialy in wether there is a way to convert it to use 209 primers.
Any help would be appreciated.

Happy shooting 8mm

I know of 2 Scout rifles, they are both .54 cal and shoot very good. The rate of twist is for bullets or sabots. I do not know about the primer conversion, but I shoot a sidelock using standard percussion caps and have had no problems. The only time you may need a 209 primer is if you use a black powder replacement in cold weather. When I use Pyrodex in cold weather I use a little FFFg black powder as a kicker.

Ditto the previous poster. The reason people are getting into different kinds of "primers" has to do with the difficulty in igniting largely unnecessary black powder substitutes. TC makes good rifles as a rule---and the Scout is nice and accurate. Have fun------Chuck
