I love my 50,e0mail them and complain if yours comes with the plastic fiber optic sights and they will send the steel replacements, they are very nice.mine shoots the 240-300 gr nosler and sierra .429 bullets into 1-1.25" using tc break-away sabots,150gr (3)of clean shot pellets, and the win 209 primer,it`s scoped with a cheap 3-9 bsa variable so I know it would do better with higher quality glass on it.hope you enjoy whatever you get.even with clean shot I have to clean right away or the breech plug is very hard to remove.

I'm in the same process as you are...in my State and others it has to be the 50 cal to qualify for hunting during BP season. Any luck finding the Encore in camo?

Unless, and until they change the 1:24 twist in the
.45, get the .50 with the 1:28 twist. Reasons for
this are explained in detail at www.prbullet.com .

You also have a much larger bullet selection with the
.50 and many states require a 50 caliber for
muzzleloading, in the event you move or decide to
hunt in another state.

The 209x45 has a 1:20 twist, the prbullet site has good info for both cals.
I just sent my 209x45 barrel back to see why it wouldn't group,my 209x50 barrel shoots excepnally, using a 195 gr bullet it shoots very tight groups on the other hand the 45 wouldn't hit a bull in the ass.Waiting to see what they tell me.If I was going to get one it would be the 50 untill they change the twist rate.
