Just recd. my Boddington #1S in 300 H&H, and if you can find one--get it! It is indeed a beautiful rifle in a classic caliber which has become my go-to hunting rifle. Our store actually got three of these, and they sold like hotcakes! Cheers, Luke

That sounds like a GREAT Ruger No.1!

Have you had a chance to weigh your particular rifle? I'm curious. What does it actually weigh with its 26-inch barrel? Ruger website says 8 lbs 4 oz.

I don't post much, but stumbled across this old thread looking for something else. You'll enjoy your Ruger #1 in 300 H&H.

I've been enjoying mine for a long time now. It's from the original run - a very late 80s "limited run," if I recall correctly. I picked it up about 10 years ago for a song.

I did some minimalist upgrades, but it's now one of the three most accurate rifles I own (the other two are bolts).

These pics were snapped after coming back from the range. It was a great day to shoot - perfect weather.

Guys,

What is the price range of the No.1 .300 H&H? I saw one for $2,000 USD. Is that the going rate?

Guy's,
From what I remember being told was that the original run was very limited "60 rifles" I grouped with some buddies & we bought 5 of them I just used mine in a trade last year for a very nice Mauser that I wanted and the $2k # is about right. Have had many arguments with Ruger collectors over that rifle as the books didn't list it.

Buliwyf & m4220:

Well, here's what I've read/been told: an unfired, NIB 300 H&H #1 should bring at least $2500. I tripped into mine over 10 years ago for a hair over 25% of that ...

Don't know what it would be worth now. Mine's in excellent shape, but to a pure non-shooting collector just the thought that it's been fired probably would make him puke. I don't care, I'm not a "collector" - even though I have a collection of nice rifles. Wink My guns get cared for well, but they also get shot.

Serial # on mine is 132-89XXX. I think there were more than 60 made in the run, but I'm not for sure how many. This #1 makes a nice companion to my BRNO 602 in .375H&H, which I've also read is a much sought-after rifle, just for the magnum 602 action, if nothing else.

Nick,
Out of curiosity I dug out my receipt box, I bought mine in 6/90 for $730 ser #132-8928x
like I said Ruger was making a lot of #1 special production runs in special calibres provided you order 500 or more. The 300 H&H run stopped early after 60 rifles thats why we bought 5, & your right I did get close to the $2500 for mine in the box. I hope you kept yours

Yes, I did keep mine and the pics are recent (this week).

This is the first time I've heard that only 60 #1s in this caliber went out the door before they stopped the run.

If so, and if their serial numbers ran consecutively, then mine's about half way through the run.

But your serial #, if produced units were numbered consecutively, seems to suggest that the run was 200+, not 60.
