It is a Taylor & Co. 1874 Sharps Silhouette Model .45-70, Lee Shaver Vernier sight with the adjustable diopter, globe front sight with inserts and spirit level, pistol grip stock with checkering and rifle butt and a tapered octagon 32 inch barrel. I can't wait to load up some black powder rounds.

A Shiloh is next on the list. Also I don't know why I can't get the pics to post properly. Have you or does anyone reload the old fashioned way with the old tong tool? I have a press in the garage but have not set it up and would like to be able to do some at the range also to test black powder loads.

pacecars, Congrats on your first Sharps! I saw this post and couldn't help myself. I just worked a deal on an all original 1878 Sharps Borchardt SRC in .45-70 - S/N - 180xx. I don't have it yet as it is still at the shop still getting a going over first. There's another one on the web - SN - 9xxx, thinking mine is a later rifle? Anyone have any recommendations for learning more about these? I have a copy of DeHaas Single Shot Rifle and Actions, but thinking Grant probably has more detailed info??? Flayderman says there were only 384 of these made in the SRC configuration. The bore still looks decent so I want to slug it and see what I need to round up to get shooting. I have other .45-70's and an RCBS 45-405 FNGC mold, but might need to pick up another more suited to the Borchardt??? Jeff P
