Well, I purchased my first Encore---25-06. Took it to the range today. Groups were just so so. I have alreday used washers and sanding to float the barrel so maybe my next trip to the range will be better.
The trigger pull on my Pro Hunter is almost terrible. At least 6 pounds.
Has anyone done a trigger job themselves?
I would like the trigger pull to be about 2-3 lbs.
Anyone tried the Bellm springs?
Are they hard to install?
If you have any good suggestions to help with improving the trigger please let me know. John

This is my favorite load. My best 100 yard 3 shot group with this load measured 0.15 inches center to center.

As for the trigger job, all of my Encores have had trigger jobs. Mike Bellm offers free information on his web site for those who want to do their own trigger jobs. He is also very helpful in communication via e-mail. Two of my Encores had trigger jobs by him and I've been very satisfied with them.

The only thing I've done to my Encores is a trigger job and I sometimes use the Bellm oversized hinge pins. The worst Encore rifle barrel I've had was a 375 H&H Mag. barrel that would only shoot 1.5 inches at 100 yards. Every other rifle barrel with the right load and bullet will do less than an inch. Actually, all of my scoped Encore handgun barrels including a 500 S&W Mag. barrel will do 1.5 inches or less for 3 shots off the bench at 100 yards.

I have an Encore in 25:06 that also shot terribly. I brought it to my gunsmith and upon examination, he determined the crown was defective. Sent the barrel to T/C and they recrowned it free of charge. My gunsmith did work on the trigger. Did some sanding on the mechanism and the rifle now shoots great. The best factory bullet is Winchester ballistic tip in 115 grains. The best hand load is 55 grains of Reloader 22 with a Barnes 100 grain XXX

I've done several of my own trigger jobs using Mike Bellm's instructions.

I purchased his printed instructions and his spring pliers are very handy.

I sent my trigger assembly to Steve Stratton formerly Virgin Valley and it was returned within a week. Trigger is perfection and cost was sixty something.

Just send it to Mike Bellm. It will be the best $80 (last time I had one done) that you have ever spent, and his turn around was very fast too.

Mike did one for me too. Good guy who does great work and supports the Encore platform with great educational articles and work. I highly recommend.
I've also done some business with Stratton but have had no trigger work done there.
