I may pick up a Taylor 1885 High Wall in 38-55. Does anyone know anything about the accuracy of these rifels or of Taylor in general. I am sure that they are the same as Cimmaron. The rifle is pretty, nice wood blueing, case colored reciever etc. 30" heavy octogon barrel w/iron sights. Dana CZ 458 Lott, 416 Rigby 375 H&H Remington C shop 50/2.5 BPC

I don't know about the Taylor 1885 high walls, but their 1874 Sharps' are cheap for a reason. If that is reflective of the quality of their other guns, I would go with Cimmeron, Uberti, the new Pedersoli 1885 (if available yet) or for not too much more money, a C. Sharps built to order here in the good old U.S. of A. One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas. How he got into my pajamas I'll never know. - Groucho Marx

Hey Dana, get the new Pedersoli. It has the best fit and finish I have seen, AND has a 1:12"twist barrel. Rich DRSS Knowledge not shared is knowledge lost...

I finally got a reply to an email I sent to Taylor asking about the pressure limits on their high wall. I was told that it was designed for a max load of 28,000 CUP. Needless to say I was dissapointed and will not be buying one. That puts the loads in the rounds it is chambered in around the old BP range. while that is ok, I guess it sure limits the fun a person could have. I would have thought that it would have been in the high 40,000+ range.
