As I want to buy a ruger #1 for a project, I would like to ask; are there any difference in strength and design of the action for an e.g. 7x57 and a 458 lott? ( Is the falling block the same size in these two calibers?)

All Number Ones are the same action.....only the extractors are different between calibers.

I see J. Belk has answered your question! To change calibers, you merely change barrels and extractors.
