Hi,

Does anyone know if the Handi-Rifle barrels are compatible with the Pardner shotgun receiver or the other way around? I'm really interested in the idea of one receiver with extra barrels for all applications.

Thanks,

Brad

Just low pressure chamberings, the SB1 shotgun frame is cast iron and most have a large firing pin, it'll work with Hornet, 30-30, 357 and 44 mag, in fact, H&R will fit the two mags to SB1 frames, they won't fit any other rifle barrels but you can. SB2 rifle frames can be fitted with any H&R/NEF barrel except the 10ga based barrels.

Hey, thanks!

I must have missed that page when I was on the H&R site.

As Wrongtarget says, YOU can fit higher powered rifle barrels to the SB-1 frame, but knowledgeable folks will strongly advise against it. The SB-2 frame is made of investment cast steel and has a smaller firing pin. The SB-1 frame is cast iron which is not as strong and if it should let go becomes shrapnel. Your life, your decision. GW

The possibilities for disaster boggle the mind.

Wrongtarget did not say anything about fitting high pressure barrels to SB1 frames, just low pressure chamberings, read it again! The low pressure barrels like Hornet, 30-30 and 45-70 you'll have to fit yourself because H&R won't.

How much fitting will be needed?

I'm thinking a SB-1 with 12ga, Hornet, 44 mag, and 30-30 barrels would cover just about everything for me.

Thanks again for the advice.

That is a very bad idea.

See the barrel fitting information in the FAQs sticky in the bottom link in my first reply, I've fitted dozens of barrels with no problems as have many, many others have, some barrels lock up just fine and may only need a little adjustment of the latch engagement, others may require a fair amount of work, they aren't one size fits all unfortunately.
