When you refit a Ruger No.1 to a heavier profiled barrel does the pre-existing forearm have to be replaced? Specifically, the Alexander-Henry forearm looks particularly thin adjacent to the barrel channel. Does this entire piece of wood need to replaced? As a side question, is the Alexander-Henry forearm on the 1-H thicker?
Thanks for any info.

Mike. The forends on my #1H's seem to be about .25" thicker than the ones on the #1A's.

The beaver tail forend like on the 1B has more room for fitting a heavier bbl. A bit wider than the AH forend.
