Getting close to finished with my BSA Martini rimfire schuetzen project. The stocks, buttplate and palm rest came from Paul Shuttleworth, and stockmaker Tim Rossbach did the final fit and prep for me to apply the finish. She sure comes up sweetly.

Hey Bill,
very nice! I see we have a similar "taste".
Here we have sometimes "traditional" competions. With old Schutzenrifles and you have to wear the Bavarian "costume". You shoot then off hand on 100m with Feuerstutzen, mainly chambered for the 8,15x46R. Or just with the Zimmerstutzen and a 4mm ball, driven by a primer at 15m-targets. Or at 30m on the "field target", that was common until the 1930s. But I digress.
I like the BSA. And it bring me again to "dumb" ideas. Big Grin

Martin. I had the chance to handle an old Aydt system schuetzen rifle in 8,15X46R and that gave me the bug to do this one.
Wonderful rifles!

Great idea for a fun rifle. I heard the .310 Cadet was a very accurate cartridge. I wonder if anyone ever set one of them up like this.

Bill,

here I´m shooting with my fathers Feuerstutzen.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?...cPc&feature=youtu.be
The rifle have the "Bavarian" cheekpiece, not the tyrolean cheekpiece.
Today, I saw on of my fathers Zimmerstutzen rifles. He refinished this one and next time, I will make pic´s.
My father was gunsmith by Stiegele in munich in the past.

Very lovely rifle, Martin. Looks like the block slides on an axis at 90 degrees to the axis of the bore. Who was the maker of your father's Feurstutzen?

It´s an original Aydt system, I mean, made by Haenel in Suhl. Aydt was gunsmith by Haenel and made the first rifles with this system in the years of 1880´s.

Bill,

Nice rifle!

I have 2-one restocked Model 12 (straight grip, very slender forearm w/ebony tip, nice English wood from Trebone), and one rebarreled with a #3 half-octagon Shilen blank from CPA, pistol grip, forearm w/ebony tip, also nice English wood from Treebone. Both are shooters as well as looking nice.

Martin , so that's what you look like !
My falling block is a FLZ ,but a field version stock not the fancy target version. I learned to shoot with it at 7-8 years old !! Spoiled for sure .
Single shots are a wonderfull and proper way to teach a child. And they are great for us old guys too ! How about your lttle guy, Max IIRC ? tu2

This one, with new Shilen barrel, shoots very well indeed.

Clarence, those are beautiful rifles. The scope on your Shilen-barreled rifle -- Lyman? Winchester? Unertl? What a classic!

Yes, many of the rifles I own, are single shots, mostly with falling block. I like these rifles.
And thank you that you ask. My boy is doing well. Time goes by very fast .... Now he is over 2 years old. Here is a current picture, we are driving with the subway.

It will probably take some time, before he can shoot and also it´s allowed. Currently going until 14, and then only .22 lr. With 18 then the "bigger" things .....

Bill,

It's a 1-1/4" Unertl varmint scope, 12x. The only 7/8" bodied scope Unertl made. Very good optics-I read somewhere that it is basically a scaled-down version of the 2" scope, but am not certain about that.

That's really nice. I've got a Belgian Flobert Martini that I need to something with. Never thought about doing something like that to it. Maybe do it in some sort of small centerfire - 32-20 or Hornet? Does your stock maker have a website?
search engines are your friends - found his site. His charges seem very reasonable
Thanks.

Clarence, great scope!
Martin: Congratulations on a fine son. May he grow up knowing how to ride, shoot straight and speak the truth. The world desperately needs this!
