TC 87 Mag Questions?

All,

I recently picked up a TC 87 Mag in 300 Win Mag. It is a very light rifle and it appears to be fired very little, maybe the 300 WM was not condusive to comfortable shooting. What I like about the rifle are the excellent trigger and the way the action locks up solid. I may have to do something with the safety though.

Anyway, my questions are about the barrel and fore end. Can I interchange this barrel with barrels from TC 87 and TC 83? Can the fore end be exchanged. The current fore end is the grooved style and the TC 83 had some checkered fore ends.

Also, where might I find barrels and fore ends for this rifle?

Thanks for your help and your comments are appreciated.

Barrels interchange. So do forends, as far as I know.

I don't know anywhere that you can get barrels or forends for these rifles, except on auction and classified sites once in a while when some individual is selling one. I had one with a .22/250, .243, and .30/'06 barrel. it was the Deluxe with DST & checkered forend. I sold it BECAUSE TC STOPPED MAKING BARRELS FOR THEM! Made me mad!!A much classier gun than the mishappen, misbegotten contraptions they are still making! They had a fire, which gave them an excuse for dropping the TCR, but I understand the real reason was that the action lockup design was just not strong enough.

Call Fox ridge, they are the custom shop also JD JONES of ssk works on those rifles,The tc87 barrels would for sure change and as long as you have a magnum action you can use any, they also had a barrel in 20gauge shotgun.I had a 30-06,custom shop bull/varmint barrel one time in the tc87 and regret saleing it.I watch the internet gun auctions all the time for them and there are a few for sale every year.Pricey though.Hang on to yours, they are accurate ,nice handling rifles. They came in 7magnum also I think.......They were way ahead in looks/class to what they make now IMO.....Good Luck!

Actually there have been quite a few of them for sale online in the last few months. Barrels show up an Ebay fairly regular.

I had an NIB 243 barrel for about ten years, but never owned one of the rifle. I finally sold it... and traded into a rifle a few years later.

They are beautiful guns, the saftey being the only complaint most people have.
