I won't go into detail as I originally posted this in the American Big Game Hunting forum here on AR 7-30 Waters buck, but here is the rifle that did the trick for me. It's dropped a number of hogs, including my longest-ever shot on a porker (353 yards) and has done nothing other than impress me since I've had it.

Hi Bobby.

I am curious about what loads you have been using and what the biggest pig you have shot with yours is. I have a Martini Cadet in 7-30 Waters that I am contenplating using for bear.

I've taken dozens of hogs with the 7mm Bullberry, including a 353 pound Volkswagon of a piggie a few years ago. I've used everything from the 120 grain Ballistic Tip, 120 grain Hornady SSP, Sierra 130 grain SSP, 140 grain Nosler Solid base (lead-tipped), 140 grain Nosler BT, 140 Partition and 140 grain Accubond, the 140 grain Berger VLD-Hunting bullet along with the 120 grain TSX and TTSX and Speer 130 grain BTSP and HC. All did the trick quite well, though if you are going after bear, I'd opt for either the 140 grain Accubond or Partition.

In the Waters, with the 36 grains W748 load (a charge right out of the Hornady manual) and the 140 grain C-T BST, I've had tremendous results on hogs. About half have exited, and these were on some large hogs. Those that didn't wound up on the far side after doing lots of damage. The AB and Partition will likely give you an exit with most broadside presentations.
