According to Ruger I have a gun that doesn't exist. It's a stainless walnut #1 RSI in 30-06. It was made, according to Rugers serial numbers in 1996, beforee they were doing stainless #1s. Anybody ever heard or seen one like it. I emailed pictures to Ruger for them to verify. Shortly after I was contacted by a guy claiming to be the president of the Ruger collectors association. He told me he was very interested in buying the rifle. You can borrow money, but you can't borrow time. Don't wait, go now. Back in the late eighties and early nineties, Bill Ruger had a few "presents" made for some gunwriters. They were usually not catalogued. I have seen one in your configuration in .405 Winchester. Think free trip to RSA Plains Game week long hunt! Rich

Are you the original owner? The 3006 has been a standard caliber for the RSI. If you got it used it is very possible it has been refinished to resemble stainless.Or could be high polished steel left in the white. Or it could be a F.O.B rifle. Friend of Bill. Which would seem odd as even those were a variation of something stock at most a oddball caliber. In this case a action would need to be cast in stainless the barrel could of been made from any blank. Seems unlikely that Bill would go that far. But with Ruger never say never. Proving it is the difficult part. Fortunately a lot of Ruger collectors are happy as long as the gun cannot be disproved as factory. Would like to see some pics of this gun.
