I am going to have a break open English style stalking rifle built what should I use for a caliber I have thought of 7x65r, 303 British, and 30-06. I am open for help the barrel will be 26 inches long with both iron and scope sights, English Walnut stock with ebony tip steel trapdoor butt plate, with rust blue finish on the barrel, French blue on the action and old style English oil finish I am not sure if I will have it engraved yet or not the action will be built of hardened 4140.. Thanks RNB

That dose sound like a great plan and SDH seems to have a perfect answear.

Although the German and Austrian gunmakers are the worlds primary builders of these type rifles the British have always made them as well to a smaller degree.

If you want one done in British style SDH has good examples of this kind of work right here on AR. Have a look at his Hagn action rifle mentioned on the posting "some nice custom singles". Since he already has the everything needed to start this project it's kind of a no brainer. The other alternitive is to go to Europe and have it done for a very big price. Thats what I did.

I have a problem with posting photo I don't know how and I asked my college aged son to help but he left after making fun of his poor father's lack of computer skills.

The caliber that I settled on is 7x65r just for cool factor and I have 1000 rounds of that ammunition on hand.
