Does anyone make a 460 rifle barrel for the TC Encore yet? I have also thought about getting one in a 454 Casull. I thought it would be a fun gun to shoot especially if it had a Holo-sight or red dot on it.

I have seen them listed in Midway for the pistol length but not rifle.

T/C announced a 460 S&W Katahdin (as well as a 500 S&W) recently for the Encore. When you are on Midway, search for Katahdin and you will see both listed as "Coming Soon". I plan on buying one of each caliber for hunting. It will be interesting to see how hard they thump the 'ol shoulder Big Grin

It will be interesting to see if they throat their 460 barrels in such a way as to promote accuracy with the shorter cartridges, especially when using lead bullets.

Seems like the 460 would be handy in the smaller lever guns but in a single shot why would you not stick with the 45-70 or 450 Marlin? Inquiring minds want to know!

How about because 300 grains is about as light as you can go with commonly available .458 diameter bullets. With a .452 barrel you can use inexpensive cast lead bullets as light at 155 grains over a pinch of fast pistol powder for practice, plinking, or small game.

Sounds like a good reason for a 45 LC to me. Then again, the price difference between the cheapest 451 cast bullet and the cheapest 458 cast bullet is insignificant and either case works fine with a pinch of pistol powder. I think the only real reason is "because I want too" and that's reason enough. But if there's a logical one I'm missing then keep trying.

Check out Matchgrade Machine. I know they have the 500 & 454. Not sure about the 460. If they dont I am sure they soon will.

I would love to have one because i have a 45 Colt and load my own. (bulk bullets to feed them all, i cast my own too) I figure my Ruger Blackhawk and Winchester Trapper is good enough for 45 Colt, might ought to rebarrel my #3 instead of getting the Encore to keep with the traditional look....

Because I don't want to just be able to shoot 45-70 bullets. I like the ability to shoot all three cartridges in the same gun. Variety is what makes life interesting.

The 460 or 45 Casull would be cool in a lever gun do you know who makes one.

I guess I should step up and take my beating on this one. I've done enough "unique" gun projects myself that I shouldn't have asked....

Puma, (imported by Legacy) makes a .454 Casull levergun.

Another good place to look is SSK Industries. J.D. Jones works some wonders with the Encore action, and he's already put out some .460 barrels. I believe you can actually use all the way down to the .45 Schofield, correct me if I'm wrong.

I actually got a chance to handle one of Puma's .454 leverguns and it's a decent rifle alright. Tad bit on the light side but it would be a sweet packing rifle.

I really wish i had not passed on a Browning Highwall in .454. All it would need is a reamer....
