Yes the ultra light is a thinner barrel than the standard Handi barrel. They do not make the 270 in a heavy (bull) barrel so it was a standard you saw. Bull barrels come in 223, 243 and 308. The 308 bull is only available as a complete rifle in the Survivor. It can be ordered from NEF on their barrel accessory program though.



Edit: They now make a bull barrel for the 204 Ruger.



The standard barrel on my NEF 30-30 is a lot heavier than the standard barrel on my 30-06 Savage.

ok i went to the local mega gun shop in these parts to look at some NEF's. They had an ultralight model in 223 but all the rest where what appeared to be regular models, the 270 I looked at seems to have a pretty heavy barrel on it, and I am fairly certain that they don't make a heavy barrel in that caliber. I don't think they had any heavy barrel guns out today. So I guess my next question is, is the ultralight gun have a lighter barrel than the standard weight gun
