I have recently purchased a brand new 6.8 spc G2 contender barrel. I have been having trouble getting it to fire. I am using my own reloads and I am not sure if this is the problem. I thought the spring on the hammer was worn out so I shimmed it to see if it would fire. Here is what I don't understand, I can put an empty round in with a primer in it and it will fire, I put a live round in there and it won't fire. I have had the gun fire a couple of times and aftering doing this I measured the casing to see if it has excessive head space thinking maybe the barrel was bad but this was not the case. So I am at the point that I have ordered new springs for the frame of the gun and factory ammo as well. If any of you have any ideas please let me know? Has anybody had any trouble with the new G2 contender barrels not firing on an old frame?

I suggest studying the articles at Bellm's TC website. Springs and headspace may well be the culprit. Bellm's TC Not as simple as it may appear. Hope this helps. Prayer, planning, preperation, perseverence, proper procedure, and positive attitude, positively prevents poor performance.
