Gentlemen, many thanks for your informative inputs. It is interesting to see that the opinons are a bit diverse, and I think I will take the actual rifle to the range for a test before buying it. It seems like those rifles are real individuals, which can present some unexpected results - or will work really well. Best regards, Fritz

I just found one of these RSI rifles in 7x57. The price is $800Can. I thought it was a bit too high? What is a used gun like this worth? I paid $675Can for my 25-06 #1B. Fred M.

It seems to me that since Bill Ruger died, the prices on Ruger firearms has taken a big jump. The used Ruger guns seem to have also risen accordingly. Most of the #1 rifles in my small collectiom have run from $350 to $500 U.S. with the exception of the .404 Jeffery which was $750 U.S. The #1H in .404 is supposedly one of the rarest of the #1 rifles. I figure I stole it. Personally, although I need a Ruger #1 RSI to round out my collection, there's no way I'd go more than $550 U.S. and then it would have to be quite minty. Not being a person to haggle prices, I just ask them what is the lowest price they will accept, cash money on the table. usually they come down to a more fair price and I buy the gun. If their lowest price in unaceptable, I just say, Thank you." and go on my merry way as there will be another somewhere down the line. I guess the bottom line has to be, just how badly do you really want it? Paul B.

Quote: If I convert the swedish price into USD, I got the fair sum of $835 USD. Its a good price here - not a bargain but good. And its a used gun. Fritz

Paul B. $550 USD is $671 Can. I offered the guy $675 but he says he won't come down. Well I guess he won't sell it to me for $800. After all it is a used gun. I thought I was in the ball park with my offer. Thanks Fred M.

Keep at him. There was a fellow at a gun show that had a Colt single action .45 with a 7.5" barrel. It was a bit of a beater (third generation yet) and he wanted $900 for the gun. Two years down the road he still had it and I kept offering him the $600 I felt was fair. I damn near had a heart attack when he finally let me have it for the $600 I offered. One of these days I'll get it cleaned up and restored, but I have so much fun shooting it that I hate to part with it for as long as it'll take to get it done. You could get get lucky if the gun doesn't sell. Either way, good luck. Paul B.
