Have any of you used any of the 'pre-fit' recoil pads for a Ruger #1 - like a Sims Limbsaver or Decelerator? I am wondering how well these fit or should I plan on using a grind-to-fit? I do not plan on shortening the LOP - just replace the existing pad.

Thanks.

Do they make a pre-fit Decelerator for the #1? I have looked, but never seen one(but sometimes I forget to use my eyes while looking).

I have installed pre-fit Limbsavers on two of my #1's .. They were not 100% and I had to fill and re-drill one of the original holes they are close enough for me..If anything I have enough extra pad to make a perfect fit..

The prefit Decelerator for my Marlin 1895 wasn't so I used it for a grind-to-fit project on another rifle. Were it my No.1 I'd have a gunsmith install a proper grind-to-fit job. I'd pass on the Limbsaver too; the one I put on my Marlin certainly does its job but it's kinda gooey and collects fibers from the carpet on the floor of the safe. I'll use a Decelerator when I replace it.

Ruger kept changing the stocks on the Ruger No 1's, that's why the Limbsaver's don;t always fit exactly but the one you want is probably 10001.

Suggest you download the template from the Limbsaver web site and test it on your stock.

So, do they?

Pachmayr lists the #01703 will fit the Ruger Red label.

Kickeez lists the #KZ108 will fit the Ruger Red label, Ruger Number 1, Browning Citori/BAR

If you match up your stock dimensions with the pad templates you get pretty close.

FWIW-- I put the KZ108 on the Ruger #1 in .450/400 and it fit nicely.

I put a Limbsaver on a No. 45/70 that was loaded to 55# of free recoil. (It helped a lot.
