What do you think about the following statement? I believe it was pinned by John Wootters, I’m not sure. “A man who opens a case in hunting camp and lifts out a single-shot rifle makes a statement about himself. It may be quite unconscious, or it may be pure egotistical one-upmanship, but it does project the image of a superior marksman and a hunter of above- average skills.”

Although not the same, there is an old saying among trapshooters that warned "beware the man who only shoots one gun". I would say that when a fellow in deer camp shows up with a single shot, I would think he is wanting to do it the right way and is not afraid of laying it out there. Just my thoughts.

I'd have to agree. I don't think it's something the single shooter strives to do, nevertheless, I think it happens quite often. Too bad it doesn't work on what we're hunting though. If it did, they'd just go ahead and give up knowing that they didn't have a chance! Ken

I just gave my 12 year old grandson a muzzle loader and I taught him how to load shoot it clean it , 1 shot and he realizes that he only has 1 shot so make it a good one ! my point ! he will be a fine marksman ! I witnessed a man shoot a 30/30 till empty at a deer shot so full of holes he gave it to a friend , sportsman ? Not in my book ! Don't take the chip !
