One of you guys have a factory 30-30 carbine barrel? I would like to know the height of the rear sight.
This barrel I have has 4 screw holes way back to the rear and I am guessing two in front of that, a total of 6. The rear sight that is on it now, original, has NO clicks and it ran out of elevation. I have a bunch of rear sights, one of them has to work on the thing.
I am wanting to use the holes that are closest to the breach. Any of you got such a set up?

I've got a 16 incher. What height are you looking for? I measured from the top of the rear sight to the bottom and it is about .475" This is not to the bottom of the base just the from the top of the blade to the bottom below the windage adjustment. I have about .135" veritical adjustment on this particuar version. I got this barrel used and it shows signs of have the sights remove and reinstalled so they could be wrong. Mine is at the lowest as I have a scope mounted and don't know if they are right. You can move the iron sights to the back as the holes are the same. You may also try a shorter front sight too.
