"Yes!" So say sources from the ASSRA (American Single Shot Rifle Assn).

SR 4759 powder has been discontinued, not because of a lack of sales or popularity, but because recent production batches inexplicably have not met production specifications, and nobody knows why. IMR plans another "trial run" of about a ton of powder in mid July. If that batch meets spec's, then a second batch will be run, to see if the powder will be continued.

Although IMR claims the issue isn't one of market demand but rather of quality control, it should be made aware of its popularity to shooters. PLEASE voice your concerns to Mr. Larry Werner, Sales Representative, by calling him at (804) 363-2094 or writing to him at 4517 Wishart Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23455.

Per the ASSRA, "SR 4759 is one of the standard single shot rifle powders that has a fast burning rate to upset plain-base lead bullets in the manner of black powder and still approach it in its bulk. Its discontinuance would be a real loss to single shot rifle shooters."

I plan to contact Mr. Werner, and if you're a fan of SR 4759 in your single shot rifle -- I hope you do too.

If I am not mistaken, wasn't this powder discontinued once before, years ago, then "resurrected"? It is such a useful propellant, I hope they are able to correct what has been going wrong lately!!

4759 has never been that popular or well known. I have used it for a long time in SS cast bullet schuetzens in particular. I have always been able to find some around.

Other powders could be substituted but 4759 has a lot of bulk to it which is quite desireable in reduced loads.

I've been using it for CB loads in .30-30, 7-30 Waters and .25-35. Fortunately, a little goes a long ways. Unfortunately, I'd have to work up new loads... I think I'll write.

FALSE ALARM!!!

SORRY TO ALL...

The news article my Dad sent me about SR4759 was a couple of years old. He thought I might like to see it, since I had just starteded to use this powder in my High Wall. When I told him I had "put the word out" he was aghast! He's 86 and a single shot fan, and we didn't mean any harm. Our sincere apologies to IMR and all others.
