Has anyone got any experience with the Thompson Center Encore using a 375 JDJ barrel? Of particular interest is recoil, as this rifle will be used by someone who has no recoil issue with a 308 Win, but isn't used to heavy recoil cartridges. Also effectiveness on large game ie buffalo, bison, elk, and bears. Thanks!

The 375JDJ should not yield a lot of recoil in rifle form, and is plenty big enough for the game mentioned. If you can handle a 308 you won't have any issues. You can also check out Gary Reeders 378GNR, which is perhaps 15% more powerful than the JDJ. Both the GNR and the JDJ are useful cartridges and you would be happy with either. I believe game up to elephant has been taken with both of them.

Several elephant have been taken with the 375 JDJ. I have the Contender carbine version of the 375 JDJ. I believe the recoil is similar to the 308 Winchester.
