I have a question for all the Ruger No.1 guru's....

If I were to build a custom rifle using a Ruger No.1 action, is the action universal, or are the actions of different spec for the different calibers and variations e.g. Tropical and Varmint?? So my question is, if I get a second hand action off say a 30-06 or a 308, can it be used to build something like a 9,3x74R??

I believe that all the #1s are similar except for the triggers (some are adjustable) and the extractor - ejector is modified to suit a particular cartridge head. Short answer yes it can. --- John303.

Have done just what you are speaking about. Examples are 22Hornet No.3 action(other than lever system, the same as No.1) to 45/70 w/ simple change of extractor plus No.1 from 22-250 to 348Win. and again change out of extractor.

They're pretty much all the same but most action parts are individual fitted.
