I'd like to hear from anyone who has a 7 Rem Mag in the encore. What I want to find out is if you have had problems with that case extracting. I had heard somewhere that the belted cases in the encore could be a problem. I want to know if that is in fact the case! Thanks.

Extraction is not the problem, getting a follow up round into the chamber quickly is however. Once seated into the chamber the extractor works well, but in a hurry, trying to load with the belt over the extractor is problematic at best.

Worst problem I had was getting the round to headspace corretly. My chamber must be cut too deep, resulting in the cartridge head sitting below the end of the barrel, causing case stretch, as I have .005 gap from barrel to frame. Wound up making cases out of 358 Norma brass to get the case to headspace on the shoulder instead of the belt.

Thanks guys for the responses I guess I'll pass on the 7 Rem Mag then. I really don't want to be fighting with the belted case & the extractor.

I have a 7mm Mag. and find the belt to be a PITA too. No problems with extraction but that belt hangs up all the time on insertion and as you're try to get it over the belt, the case sometimes slips under the extractor. This is the _last_ belted round I'll ever get in a tip-up action. If I could get the extractor to not hang up on the belt and not pop out of the extractor groove I may keep the barrel.
