Good Luck!!

I've been looking for extra barrels for mine for some time now and have come up empty. There are a few 7mm Mag and 30'06 barrels around as well as the 12ga Slug barrel on Gunbroker from time to time.

I'm looking for 243, 6mm, 257R, 22 Hornet, etc. I have an extra 22-250 barrel that I would trade for one of the calibers I'm looking for, but not for sale.

Yeah, good luck! I sold mine because TC stopped making the barrels.

They can be tough to find. I have .22 Hornet, .225 Winchester, .243 Winchester, 7m/m-08 Remington, .30-'06 U.S., and .32-40 Winchester barrels for mine, but it has taken me years to get them all together.

Fox Ridge (TC Custom Shop) maybe still makes barrels for the TCR, I think, but they are neither cheap nor my first choice.

If anyone ever comes agross a TCR barrel in .25-35, CALL ME, PLEASE.

Fox Ridge (the retail outlet for the TC Custom shop) no longer makes or sells barrels for the TCR!! Believe me, I bought one of the last .30/'06 barrels they had in stock over five years ago. At that time they said "no more TCR barrels due to their fire", but I think they were just not selling well. At one time several years back, SSK was still taking orders for TCR barrels in BIG CALIBERS like 500 Nitro, etc. But I was looking for a .32/40.....

I certainly believe you...I guess time flies when your "having". Seems like just a year or so ago I got my last flyer from Fox Ridge with them in there. I am almost certain SSK still makes them, but each and every one of their's is a "custom" job, I believe, and priced accordingly.

BTW, my Fox Ridge .32-40 barrel is one of the least accurate I have. It could be load, or it could be forend fit that is causing the inaccuracy (it is their varmint weight barrel with no iron sights). Anyway, I never use it as I have not had the time in the last few years to make/buy an appropriate forend and then work on loads. The .225 is not much better, and it is also a varmint weight Fox Ridge. I have always found T/C's standard production barrels much better shooters on my particular '83 action.

I had three barrels for mine. A .22/250, a .243 Win., and a .30/'06. The '06 was mediocre, the .243 was terrible, and the .22/250 shot extremely well. I really liked the weight, balance, and the double-set trigger. I used Super Glue to inactivate the safety lockout button so I could push the safety off and on with one finger instead of two hands....

They should have put a tang safety on the things.

Now you've gotten my interest piqued! I almost never use the safety on ANY rifle, and can't recall having ever used it on my TCR.

Is your's a safety that automatically prevents the rifle from being fired every time you load it?

Hmmm...if so, I guess the previous owner of my rifle must have disabled it somehow.

Now I'll have to go fish it out of the vault (way in back, top shelf) after I finish today's accounts and check it out.

Best wishes,

Alberta Canuck

No, my rifle had a crossbolt safety that, when you engaged it, a little button in the trigger guard locked the crossbolt in the safe position, requiring you to disengage the button contraption BEFORE you could move the crossbolt to the "fire" position. I glued the button contraption in the "unlocked" posisiton so the crossbolt could be moved "ON SAFE" and "OFF SAFE" with just one finger, without having to fool with the button gadget. The safety did not automatically engage when you opened the breech, like some SXS shotguns do. I don't believe the TCR ever had such a feature.

Thanks, El D -

I was pretty sure I had never seen a TCR with an auto safety, that's why I asked. I guess I have never used the safety on my TCR, 'cause I didn't recall that "unlocking" button at all.

Best wishes,

Alberta Canuck
