I've competed in Schuetzen matches for more than twenty years. I am always hearing from owners of the break-open single shot T/C guys how accurate the rifles are. If that is true, why has no one built an Encore for this ultimate competition? Plain base lead alloy bullets, no restriction on rifle weight or scope. Anybody got a cast bullet rifle with plain base bullets that will hold under 1.5" for ten shots at 200yds? Five targets like that in 2.5 hours. Rich DRSS

Rich, I built an Encore in .45-70 a while back that would shoot 250 XFN's at 2600+ fps at moa all day long. The glass is mounted on the barrel and the barrel is mostly free-floating with a hanger bar so it stays pretty true once set up. The only limitation is barrel diameter at 1" because of how it interfaces with the action. Weakest part of the Encore is the junk extractor system otherwise it's decent.

I would not think that their triggers are up to Schuetzen match snuff....off hand.. But what do I know not having owned a Encore (Contenders yes) or having shot in a Schuetzen match.. Another thing...you would have to shoot the match with a bag over your rifle if you used a Encore..

Roger on the trigger.........and a bag over the operators head is easier!

Because I never attempted it I don't know for sure but....I had a 21" SS full bull MGM barrel in .357 Max mounted on a G2 frame that would do very well using 185 gr. hardcast bullets slowed down to around 1600-1700 fps. Sold it to a fellow shooter in PA that uses it in some sort of comp....very successfully.
