I guess that pretty well sums it up. My friend has an H&R 1871 Buffalo Rifle in .38/55 and wants to put a rear Tang Sight on it that is adjustable for windage and elevation. The rifle is by no means a high-dollar one, so he does not want to spend any high dollar amount on a rear Tang Sight. Any suggestions on what make, model to fit on this particular weapon? Thanks for any help. Tom Purdom

Inlet a steel base into the wrist of the stock and screw on one of the Ukranian Soule-type mid-range rear sights. Go to either Buffalo Arms or Parts Unknown to buy one. They offer reasonable quality for a fair price. The sight should have enough elevation to shoot 300-grain cast loads out to about 800-yards.

Marbles Tang Sight.
Not really all that cheap, last time I checked they were about $125 where the normal Lyman that is not windage adjustable is about $100.

He will like it.

Strong enough for the .270 Win at 65,000psi. Same SB2 frame as the Handi-rifle. The .375 Win is a weenie in comparison to the .270's pressure.

I noticed this Taylor sight on sale at Midway for under $60. It may be what you're looking for.
