I have read a few articles that talk about the firing pins breaking from dry firing the early Dakota 10 rifles. I have also read that this problem has been corrected on the newer rifles. Does anyone know if this "fix" can be made to the early Dakota 10s? If so, who would do it and what would it entail?

Dakota was "quietly" offering replacement firing pins for a while. Some broke, but I believe more peened over. From what I hear they fixed the problem but I have lost faith in them. I sold my Dakota 10's after discovering they are a great concept with poor execution. All We Know Is All We Are

When I got men they made the comment about the firing pin issue being due to dry firing. The rifle came with a tag on it stating that you should not dry fire it. That being said, I followed their requests and have not had any issues in 10 years.
