While I have loaded 357 for wheelguns-H110, I'm not sure where to begin loading for a 20" barrel. Recently acquired a #1 357 that is NOT a CHP model. Suggestions please. We Band of Bubbas N.R.A Life Member TDR Cummins Power All The Way Certified member of the Whompers Club

I have had the best accuracy and velocity in my Marlin 1894 with 158 gr. JHP bullets and Win. 296. As Win. 296 and H-110 are the same powder, I would start with your H-110 handgun loads.

First thing I would do is rechamber it for 35 Whelen.

Already have a Rem 600 and a Rem 673 in 350Mag. No Whelen needed. 357 Maximum is tempting though. Andy B We Band of Bubbas N.R.A Life Member TDR Cummins Power All The Way Certified member of the Whompers Club

I also use H110/Win 296 in 357. Running it through a 24" barreled 1873 I get about 1780 fps with 158grain bullets. I'm getting 1250-1350 averages with same load out of several 4-6 inch revolvers. With 125gr fairly warm loads I got 2,230 fps out of the rifle (about 1600 fps out of the S&W 586 6" barrel). Accurate, no recoil. Fun round to shoot out of a rifle. Hornady makes FTX's and IIRC the 158gr XTP FP for rifles at the increased speed which ought to work for short-range deer hunting too.
