This is a problem for some folks and the #1s. Best solution I've seen is the Mould's replacement quarter rib. It is a two peice unit and featuers Weaver-style cross slots. This rib allows the scope to be mounted in a more rearward position. They are available through Brownells.

I have had the same luck as kolob10 with a Burris scope. My #1 is a .270, and the eye relief is fine. MG

I just looked at the Moulds replacement mounts at Brownells web-site. I have to agree with Holmes, this looks just like the thing I need on my #1. My eye relief is just not cutting it, I have to crawl up the stock. And speaking of cutting it, I REALLY dont want to have my stock cut down an inch just for proper eye relief! That Moulds was around $100, but it sure beats cutting stocks.

I used S&K mounts on mine to move it back. May require gunsmith work not sure if my smithine just installed it or had to drill & tap. Wayne
