I know this is more of a gunsmith question but I figured I would have a better chance of finding a Ruger No. 1 owner here! Could someone please measure the overall length of the quarter rib on a No. 1 and post the result? I will be buying one to put on a bolt action 7X57 and need to know if I can fit it on the stepped military barrel or if I need to buy a new barrel. Thanks in advance.

The one on my No 1 International in .270 is 6 1/2 in length. I think they vary with barrel diameter somewhat. good luck

Thanks, I have been thinking about just ordering a barrel anyway instead of using the unissued military one I have laying around. If I order a 20" barrel with the same contour as the No.1 International I should be able to use that quarter rib (and maybe even that front sight set up) without a hitch.
