I just received my Ruger No. 1 in .458 Lott (stainless).....excellent rifle that I highly recommend. For some reason, a lot of dealers are selling these at a discount (I've seen many go for $650).

Most guns are discounted! I just got a M70 that was on allocation and got $150 off of list.

There is a new #1 in .375 H&H at the dealer here and he is asking $495 and it's been sitting there. Thats right $495.

What are you going to use that 458 Lott single shot for?

I realize that there's always a discount off of list, but this one is fairly significant. The tropical rifles (at least in Northern VA) bring $750 new.....and that's for blued. Also, Davidson's lists the new .405 Win stainless tropical for $910.00 (granted it's a rare chambering, but essentially it's the same gun).

No real plans for the .458 Lott other than to simply shoot it on occasion. My personal big-game rifle is an all stainless Model 70 that's been converted to .450 Ackley.

Would you mind telling me where the Ruger #1 for $495 is located? I've been looking for one at a reasonabe price to re-chamber to 450/400 3 1/4 nitro express to go with my double rifle. I'm located in Va and am willing to go a reasonable distance to get one.

I paid about $650 for my rifle a couple of months ago. The receiver of my rifle had some scratches on both sides out of the box but it was very easy to polish off due to the awesome stainless finish. The rifle did seem to have been test fired on a machine so some mounting marks were left on the reciever. The muzzle crown of my rifle also has a light ring around it but it seems to be shooting fine. Have fun.
