I have a 1V in the 6.5-284 Norma on the way. Has anyone shot one of these yet? It will be my first 1V and I am anxious to trade the rib for blocks. I only know one person that shoots a 1V and it is the least accurate of his #1s oddly enough. It is in 25-06 and still shoots 1 to 1 1/2 inch groups depending on the load, but those are twice the size of the rest of his collection. I have had great luck with 3 1Bs and just can't pass up the chance to have a #1 in 6.5/284.

Picked up the gun yesterday. Not overly impressed with either the fit or finish of this particular piece. I am impressed with the trigger. It breaks at 3.2 pounds with very little creep. The checkering is well done, but the edges especially on the butt are protruding past mated metal noticeably further than my other #1s and the wood seems to have shrinkage of a much older gun. Not a good sign. The gun beat the 30mm rings to the house so it will be a week before I get going with it. It will be topped a Leupold LPS 3.5-14x50. Barrel break-in will be with 120 grain A-Max and the game bullets will be 125 Partitions or 130 grain Accubonds whichever the gun likes better. If neither of those are great I may try the 130 grain Berger VLDs. The barrel is an 8 twist, but I have never been a huge fan of the 140 grain bullets and for absolutely no good reason.

I have never been impressed with factory inletting on No. 1's. Even there special run guns with fancy wood are poorly inletted. I still like these guns though.

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

the 6.5/284 shines with 140/142 bullets... don't be afraid of trying them.

I have shot the 140 Scenars and 140 Berger VLDs out of a 6.5-06 with spectacular accuracy. While I practice out to 500 yards I don't generally shoot game past 400 and really don't see the advantage of 140s until you get past 500. I have always had such good performance from 125 grain Partitions and 130 grain Accubonds from the 6.5-06, 264, and 6.5WSM and 100 and 125 grain Partitions from the 260, I guess the remnant juvenile speed freak in me hates to give up a couple hundred FPS in trade for BC and SD. Maybe if I was to elk or moose hunt with a 6.5 I would move to the 140 Partition.
