I have a friend who tells me quite a few stories, most of them i just go along with because i know they are a bunch of bull. haha He has a #1 in the .307 cal. He tells me its the only one ever made. I know this is false because his brass read .307. I'm sure he didn't have remington make him some new brass with .307 stamped on it, JUST FOR HIM. Anyways i was wondering if anyone one here had a #1 chambered in the .307. THanks for your time, Bkmastr "It is allways better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you are stupid than to open it and prove them right."

This is nuts, since the only difference between a .307 and a .308 in the Ruger No. 1 would be the extractor/ejector, a $5.00 piece of metal......... If he has one, no doubt the barrel was mis-stamped....... "Bitte, trinks du nicht das Wasser. Dahin haben die Kuhen gesheissen."

And it would be such a waste for a Ruger #1.

There was a time when Ruger allowed their employees to build up a #1 rifle in any caliber they wanted. Most were never cataloged or even made in special runs. They were one off guns made for the employee. So the possibility of a Ruger #1 in .307 Win. is not an impossibility. Those of us who collect #1s dream of having one of those one off guns falling into our hands. Paul B.

Well it sounds like there is a small chance that he does have the .307 win. When i think back when him and i went out shooting, i do know that the brass said .307 win. But that don't meen they didn't neck it down to something else. Do you want his number, Paul B? the dad doesn't work cause he is lazy so they are allways looking for money. so maybe you could be able to get ahold of this gun. ..what does the caliber marking on the barrel say? .307 Winchester or .308 Winchester. As to rare employee guns...I have talked to people who have seen #1s in .350 Remington Magnum...I would love to have a #1A or #1 International in .350... Bob

Well if it is marked .307 Winchester in the correct place on the barrel in factory script then it probably is like he said..a one of a kind. Ruger didn't really make that many .308 #1s until fairly recently...and the only cataloged configuation was the #1B. Which one does your friend have...A, B, RSI? Bob

You know that the .307 Winchester is a real factory round, right? -+-+- "If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun." - The Dalai Lama

L:ike I said, the .307 Win. is just a .308 case with a rim added for use in lever-action rifles...... In Europe, they would have called it the 7.62X51R...... "Bitte, trinks du nicht das Wasser. Dahin haben die Kuhen gesheissen."
