Got a Ruger #1 375 H&H in on a trade deal. I don't know much about these guns. One of my friends says it a Tropical model. But it doesen't say tropical on it at all. Another person says they only made the 375 in tropical. It does have a barrel band for the sling and a 24" barrel, and a fold down rear site if that helps. How do I firure this out? Thanks Maddog PS I am going to sell it also. What is it worth? It looks new.

The .375 H&H No. 1 is the "Tropical Rifle". A fair price for them used is in the $475.00 to $575.00 range depending on how nice the wood is, etc. I hunted with one for several years, and it was about the best handling rifle that I have owned.
Give me a call if you have more questions.

It is the No. 1H Tropical. if in excellent condition, it is worth in the vicinity of $500.00 - $600.00, depending on where you live and how nice the wood is! I have one. Mine has plain wood and the late model, sorry trigger. But it shoots well, and is a real nice rifle!
The Ruger No 1 is a fantastic rifle and many are extremely accurate. The No 1 action is arguably the strongest rifle action EVER built, capable of handling anything a responsible loader could ever ask it to do with ease. Ruger tested these No 1's years ago trying to blow them up and could not do it - filling a 7mm Rem Mag case to the brim with Unique and compressing a long, heavy bullet into it... The case head literally melted away but the rifle did not let go!
Of course needless to say the .375 H&H is a classic round that's arguably the most versatile all-around centerfire round to be had. The combo you've got could make for a wonderful rifle. KEEP IT and enjoy!
Mine's a .458 Win and it's one of my favorite rifles without question.
