I am in the market for a Contender Frame. I found two. And the same individual has both. I am going to buy one of them. The difference is in the hammer. He said the first one has the original hammer with the slot in the hammer face that is turned to select between rimfire and CF. The second hammer has firing pin selector with cross bolt selector on the hammer to switch between RF and CF. Is there a big difference in these hammers?? Is one better than the other?? Any opinions on the two?? Thanks, Tom. WEST BY GOD VIRGINIA

I have used both but the two I have now are the later firing pin selector type. I don't think I would either make or break a deal on which system the frame has. Make sure they lock up tight, the triggers will adjust properly etc. DW

Both of my frames are the early hammer. I like them. My buddy has the later style hammer on his frame. It works fine. I would pick the best one for condition and price and walk away happy. Si tantum EGO eram dimidium ut bonus ut EGO memor

If it's a good price, buy both. The one style can be switched with fingers. The other needs a screwdriver or something to turn it. TC will replace with the newer style hammer for $$.
