Steve there is a small cone shaped spring that rebounds the fireing pin and dry fireing can compress this spring causing the fireing pin to stick out preventing the action from opening after fireing a round.

I would then think that using a snap cap would solve the problem and worries.

I have never heard of that one. there shouldn't any problem with dry firing an encore
