Looks like Ruger will produce the No. 1 in .405 Win come 2003 (both blued and stainless).

I hope they make it in the 1-A version with a 22" bbl. That would be a hard "hunting" rifle to beat. For most North American hunting you really do not need the power of the other big bores. The 300gr. bullets I use in my 450/400 Double have given me more one shot, knockem down, don't take a step kills than any other combination I have used so far.
Maybe Chapuis, Merkel, Krieghoff, etc will make a 405 double. Now that would be a fun double for Deer to Bear.
