Hi all. I know questions of this type are asked all the time but here goes. I am seriously considering having a custom takedown falling block built. This will be fitted with three barrels. The first barrel is the omni present 22 lr, the second Ive decided upon is the Winchester .50-110 (aka .50 Express). That takes care of small and very large game. What I need to decide is on a cartridge for medium game. Mostly Whitetail Deer and Black Bear during the fall, with coyote and fox in the winter and woodchucks during the summer. This action can take modern cartridges and pressures but I am considering some older cartridges and would like some input from the forum. Some cartridges Ive considered are the .30-40, .30-40 Ackley, 7X57, 257 Roberts and improved, the good ole .30-06, 6.5X55 Swede and the list goes on. Please, lets here some recommendations. Thank you and happy holidays.RW

I would go with something relatively common such as 270, 30-06, or maybe even 7X57.
