I use a bolt action as my main rifle (Sako 7mm-08) but normally have another rifle as a 'back up' in case of problems arising.
I had a Ruger No 1 in 6MM Rem for some six years and it was consistently accurate after free floating the barrel. However I traded it in for a Rem 700 VSL which only lasted 18 months due to the weight. I fancy the idea of another single shot rifle and am thinking of perhaps a Blaser K95 or something similarly light and handy.
I recall 1894 and Montero acquiring these rifles and would be pleased to hear how they feel about them after having used them for some time now.

Regards

I have a Blaser K-95 Stutzen in 308. I like it very much. Do a search in the European game section on the K-95. Mine is very accurate and it is a joy to carry. The Blaser scope mount, either the European [QD] or the American [allen wrench] go back to zero 100%.
I highly recommend the K-95. I have had no extraction problems with the rimless case.

I have a K-95 that I have had for a short time. In 30-06 it really shoots well in fact as good or better than some bolt guns I have had. It is a M.O.A. gun with several ammo types. I now have my eye on something else and may let it go. If I do, I can let you know if you like. It has rings and a Swarovski A-line scope.
It is a deluxe model with killer wood.
I still love my #1's but this gun has much to offer.

My Father ownes a K95 chambered in .270 winchester. It is a very nice light rifle that will shoot well inside an inch at 100m if you can hold it steady enough. Overall a very nice piece.

What does the K95 run pricewise now? I've never owned one and have heard good and bad about them. I'm always up to try something new.

I have used my K95 for the last three seasons and have shot/hunted with it quite a lot. So far I have taken three red stag , two reindeer, two roedeer and two beaver with it.

Mine is a 7mm RM, continental/german stock, Blaser QD mount and a S & B 3-12x42 scope.

My experience with the gun is only positive, its light, fast handling, very accurate with a diversity of loads, the finish is holding up very well with the eception of the engraved sideplates that seems a little soft and have lost some of its finish.

I like the format, low weight and short, fast handling. I like the fact that it breaks down like a shotgun and reassembles without loosing POI. I also find the safety system, with a cocking knob, reassuring and the trigger is the best I have used, being spoiled rotten early on with match quality triggers in my first bolt action guns.

I have really no negative experiences at all and would certainly replace it with another one should it get broken or stolen. The only negative aspect is the price, while not beeing steep at all in its segment, it still is expensive. I want another, extra, barrel for mine and the price of the barrel+fitting is close to the price of a complete new Ruger No 1, for instance. Add to that the cost of another scope mount... Well, I use mine for most of my hunting and will get the other barrel as well, and can firmly recommend this gun.
