would 1 in 14" or 1 in 12"be better for a 22 br? range will be 250 - 500 yards, groundhogs, coyotes, and informal range time, and bullets will be 40 - 55 grains...

tdoyka,
I've got an XP-100 w/ a 15" Hart barrel chambered in 22 BR. It's an amazing cartridge. My gun will safely push 40 gr bullets to 3650 fps and 50 gr bullets to 3300 fps. Accuracy averages less than 3/4" at 100 yards. I think you'll be pleased w/ the 22 BR.

According to the Shilen website, you should be good w/ a 1"14" twist.

Good luck and good hunting.
