Just curious, has anyone seen one or does anyone have any experience of it? I'm thinking of the relatively new kippblock one which incorporates the integral rib extension based on the rising bite principle. http://www.fanzoj.com/en/gunro...eshot_rifle_new.html

Jabali and Steve - What caliber would you commission for such a rifle, 7x57R, 7x65R, 9.3x74R, 375 H&H FL Mag, 405 Win, etc? And both those rifles have a top bite. Is that just providing insurance in case of a failure or is that actually part of the lock-up?

I have a soft spot .30 super flanged but that is fairly obscure. The 7x65R is a great performer but of the calibers list I would likely choose 7x57R for a light stalking rifle. For something with a bit more punch the .375 H&H FL would be my choice.
It will make my heart sink to know, but what do these cost? I'm guessing one could get well appointed Hagn from Martin or Ralph for less.

A big thumbs up for Max Ern and family. I've visited their shop and was thoroughly entranced.

Oddly I have visited a couple of their shops in Zagreb and Ljubiana. They're way out of my league - if you have to ask the price you can't afford it!
I have though just ordered a K95 - not a Luxus or anything like that but with upgraded wood, in 222 Rem - mainly for Roe. I don't have a delivery date - but it won't be this year.

I believe Peter Hofer is married to Daniela Fanzoj, so I wonder whether there is any collaboration on the rifles?
As to calibre, something like 7x65R speaks Austrian single shot to me, but with the success that people seem to be having with K95 Blasers in rimless cartridges such as .308 and .30-06, a rimless cartridge also has its attractions...

Fanzoj are one of the Ferlach based gunmakers and are thus all very closely interlinked. It is a small town that I would love to visit sometime, they have a very high quality guild, but they are all small independent gunmakers, but I am sure collaborate and work together. Quality will be second to none and on a par if not better than London best. There is a degree of innovation though as well being very traditional. I use a combination gun in 7x65R built by Hambrusch in 1974, although retailed by Heinrich Munch of Aachen. It is beautifully made and a joy to use. Fanzoj has been well written up in the likes of the Double Gun Journal. My suggestion would be to by an air ticket and take a long weekend down in Ferlach and go and see them in the flesh as it where.
Pricing - well if you need to ask.

If you do visit don't do as I did and go on a national holiday, when it is closed! If I remember correctly there were 22 gunmakers and of course the proof house. Ferlach is only a couple of miles from the Slovenian border and not what you'd call pretty but is a small honest working town.
This was after I managed to shoot my Gemsen at 9.30am on day one of a weeks hunt - so had a few spare days.

Guns like this are wonderful... the stuff dreams are made of...
Stupid question... How do you attach a sling to it? All I see is one sling keeper on the barrel.
If I were wealthy enough for a gun like this, I would go to Mr. Hagn... love those elegant single shots he makes. I have spent quite a bit of time looking at Hoffer rifles... Wonderful workmanship and wood, totally over-the-top prices but some of his stock designs make me think he's heavily into controlled substances. Either my tastes aren't refined enough for his gun... or his aren't.
This Franzoj is magnificent.

If the prices quoted earlier in the thread hold true, I think you might get at least a nice pair of Hagn's or Martini/Hagn's for the price of one of these Fanzoj Kipplaufs. As elegant looking as that Fanzoj is, I would much prefer a Hagn. The Fanzoj looks sweet though! If I were in the proper tax bracket, I would try to own a couple of each!

The Max-Ern and Fanzoj sidelock break-open models are things of beauty. A falling block rifle is very different. Each type of action has specific advantages over the other. I wish H&H would make a single shot break open on one of their sidelock actions, either the 'Royal' or the round back-action.
