On a TV program a few months ago, a gentlman shot a white tail with a Hi Wall Uberti .30-30 that wore a low mounted variable scope...like a 1x4 or so. I've looked at their website but do not see nor is it mentioned anywhere that the rifle is tapped for scope mounts... Are they ? If so, what mounts are available ? Elk, it's what's for dinner..

WOW !! Nobody ??? I stumped the S/S crowd !! Do I win anything ? Like an 1885 lw in .260rem....? Yea, I can dream, right..? Maybe I should spin an email to Uberti and solve the mystery and post it up. Elk, it's what's for dinner..

Hi Blacktail.... I bought a used Uberti Low Wall in 38-55..... the previous owner had the barrel DT for scope mounts...looked like he used one of those long scopes like they use on BPCR as the first set of holes are 3.7" ahead of the receiver... As far is the Browning Low Wall in .260 Rem I also own one of those along with a few in .22 Hornet and .243.... the barrel measurement at the muzzle on all of them is .560"....a re-bore job on the more readly availible Hornet, .223 or .243 would give you your .260 Rem.

Low Wall, thanks for the reply. A LW Browning in .260 would be an awesome rig to own. I hadn't thought of a rebore option...great idea. I wasn't even aware that the .260 was offered until after they were dropped from production. Any idea how many were produced? ANY centerfire LW Browning is hard to come by...at least where I live. I cruise the shows and see mostly 78's or heavy cal 1885's and LW rimfires. My interest in the Uberti was to maybe be able to scratch that itch for a good centerfire wearing glass. Thanks again for the thought's. Elk, it's what's for dinner..

Well Blacktail I have never seen any of these Browning LW for sale except on the internet sites such as Auction Arms,Gunbroker,Canadiangunnutz and GreyBeard...I just lucked out on the .260 LW as there was a fellow (from Alberta) on leverguns.com looking for a .375Win. 94 and I owned what he wanted....I told him if he had a .260LW I would trade for it and give him a little cash to boot.....a fellow from N.Carolina saw that post and sent me a PM saying he would sell me his....It took me 7 months and two dealers plus and extra $320.00 to import it here to British Columbia... I just sited it in a few days ago and hope I have enough time to work up some loads before I have to go back to work.....so far I have imported that .260,.22 Hornet and a .357 Tradtional Hunter LW which just came a few weeks ago....the little .357 has outstanding wood and is my favorite of them all.....I am working up loads using H-110 and RCBS 213 gr. cast bullet...I have'nt chronied it yet but suspect the loads are close to 1700 fps which will be great for deer and black bear or moose and elk at close range and good shot placement....but I don't plan on hunting the last two with the .357.....I want to re-barrel either one of my Hornets or one of the .243's in a 37R which is a 30-40 Krag necked up .375....just need to do some more homework on that one and find a gunsmith who understands proper throating for cast bullets and will do a good job....my wallet is also quite flat so it will be awhile before 37R job gets started.... I am hoping/thinking that maybe they will be coming out with a CF LW as they seem to have all the RF's covered.... Backtail, good luck in finding your .260 Low Wall

Low Wall, Again, thanks. Sounds like you've got an enviable cache of low walls ! The .357 TH low wall is another that caught my eye. A simple touch of a .357 maximun reamer would make that gun even more powerfull and flexible - maybe the most flexible of them all. Plinker .38's to full bore loaded .357 max with 180's would be hard to beat! I'll keep looking. I have some trading fodder. It's just whether or not I could actualy let go of one of them !! Good luck on the 37R. Let us know if you put it together. BT Elk, it's what's for dinner..
