Although Hornaday says to trim to 2.065", the handi rifle has about 70 thousands to the lands. (I partially seated a bullet, closed the rifle to drive the bullet in, and measured. Yes no powder or primer!) Is this excessive trim really necessary for this rifle? Or am I missing something?

I haven't shot em yet, but I'm into the lands at 2.783", no trimming necessary, I expect them to shoot very well as it has done well with everything I've shot in it, ~1" 100yd groups with 265gr Hornday FP, 355gr Beartooths and 240gr XTPs.

Trimming is only necessary to accomodate Marlin magazines. Using LE or standard brass works well in my H&R and Ruger #1. The longer brass is no good with FTX bullet in a Marlin.
